Learning from the small ones (art77blog.axel-von-criegern.de. Nr. 370)

At a first look those two pictures show the same sculpture. But there is a huge difference of scales. The left one measures about 15 cm and the right one is about 70 cm. What was more interesting for me is that a lot of things I practised when carving the smaller one from the very hard boxwood  influenced my work with the larger sculpture. And that happened completely unconscious. The smaller one was by no means a model for the taller one. The major impact came from having an all around view and feeling the dependency and complexity of every single item for the whole one.Sounds like an election speech, but it is simply art.
