Unteres Bild: Jan Steen (1626-1679): Abfahrt von einem Wirtshaus, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart
Jan Steen (1626-79) war genau zwanzig Jahre jünger als Rembrandt. Er gilt für künstlerisch weniger brillant, ist aber einer der beliebtesten Maler der Zeit. Er hatte einen hinreißenden Humor. Schon häufig wurde seine Nähe zum #Theater herausgestellt. Als ich begann mich mit Steen selbst künstlerisch auseinanderzusetzen, konnte ich diese #dramatische Ader in vielen Einzelheiten nachvollziehen. Nur bei einem Bild bin ich soweit gegangen, das Bild-Theater in #Sprache zu transferieren. Die „Abfahrt von einem Wirtshaus“ hängt in der Staatsgalerie Stuttgart. Meine kunstgeschichtlich-ikonologische Untersuchung dieses Bildes wurde 1971 in der Zeitschrift „Oud Holland“ abgedruckt. (Ich verweise auf das im September erschienene Buch „Wie geht Kunst?“ und das umfangreiche Veröffentlichungs- Verzeichnis). Bei allem Witz war Steen Moralist. Nur so lässt sich seine Auslegung der Wirklichkeit verstehen. So meine ich hinter der vergnügten Abfahrt das spätmittelalterliche Thema des „Narrenschiffs“ entdeckt zu haben. Ich führe vier „Rederijker“ (Rhetoriker) , wie die damals zwar schon veralteten , aber wohl immer noch beliebten dichtenden Handwerker hießen, ein. Sie sind es die das Bild als „Narrenschiff“ interpretieren. Sowohl die Erzähler als auch die Personen der Handlung wurden aus großen Aluminium-Blechen geschnitten und bemalt. Eine ganz besondere Theater-Kompanie. Sowohl die Figuren als auch der Text sind in dem 2003 in Tübingen erschienenen Katalog- Buch abgedruckt: „Dramaturgie eines Bildes. Auseinandersetzung mit Jan Steen (1626-79): „Abfahrt von einem Wirtshaus“ .(Staatsgalerie Stuttgart)(ISBN 3-933916-12-7).

As a very important
part in my art research, art teaching and art experience became the dutch painter Jan Steen after more than 50 years a real friend. Today I am sure,that his dramatic talent was his outstanding quality. Only once I transformed one of his paintings in a stage play in a burlesque Shakespear-Style. The characters were all cut out from large aluminum-sheets, bent and painted. A funny Theatre Company.( See above „Dramaturgie eines Bildes“2003…)
